"I have hired Bob to do two buyer marine surveys for me and highly recommend his service.   In each survey, Bob was meticulous in his work and report.  His background and personal experience with marine craft is evident in the manner in which he conducts the survey and inspects all aspects of the vessel. I have found his reports to be accurate and extremely useful in making my purchase decisions.  His work is timely and I did not find myself having to wait for his report.  I like the fact that Bob would call me upon the conclusion of the survey to give me an overview and within a day or so I would have the written report.   I highly endorse RJE Marine Services and would not hesitate to call upon him again."

" I would like to take a moment to give a professional endorsement to Bob Eldridge and his team for great service in his field. The marine industry is steeped in tradition and professionalism and Bob's understanding of both comes through in his work. Over the past few years vessel buyers found Bob through their own efforts, and made their purchasing decision based on his discovery and findings. Bob's formal reports become a pivotal ingredient in vessel ownership and marketing.  Bennett Brothers Yachts have based some considerable favorable decisions on the unexpected findings of Bob's surveys. If you are seeking a surveyor for Condition and Value or Full Haul-out top to bottom, stem to stern mechanical & electrical Mr. Eldridge should be your first choice."

Highly recommended for his service, efficiency, and candor with our clients."

As a first-time boat owner, I was extremely fortunate to have my marine survey completed by Bob Eldridge.  This came about indirectly, as I began my research to determine who would complete the survey for me.  Since I live on the Intracoastal in Holden Beach, NC I was interested in obtaining someone who was local and familiar with boating in this area.  In this process, I reached out to Jared Houghtalen in Wilmington, NC.  We spoke at length over the phone and because of his commitments to other clients, he suggested I contact his father-in-law, Bob Eldridge who started him in the business and has been his mentor in the Marine Surveying Industry.  Jared indicated to me that Mr. Eldridge will be traveling to Wilmington from St. Augustine, FL and he would be an excellent person to do my marine survey.  Now that the survey has been completed, I have to say how fortunate I was to have it done by Bob Eldridge.

When I first met Bob at the marina, it was about 8:30 in the morning and he had already been working on the boat since 7:00 am.  He was engaged in examining every aspect of the vessel from its cabin appointments, the electrical, fuel, and fresh water system, electronics & navigation equipment, and the hull and deck.  After introductions, Bob acquainted me with what he had examined thus far and continued his evaluation of the engine and propulsion.  Through this process he was explaining everything to me and encouraged me to ask any questions.  He continued on with his survey by checking all safety equipment, air conditioning and heating system, and fresh water, filtration, and sanitation systems.

The next phase of the survey was the Sea Trial.  During this time Bob was taking engine readings and carefully monitoring the boat’s responsiveness as Captain Mac drove the boat and took it through various RPMs ranging from the engine idling through cruising speed, and maximum throttle. He was in the engine compartment taking readings, checking belts, the transmission, fuel system, and using mirrors to examine every inch of the motor and its propulsion.

Once the Sea Test was completed, the boat was placed on a work rack for the “Out of Water” inspection.  Here again, Bob was extremely thorough inspecting the bow and stern, port and starboard using a mallet to see if there was any weakness in its structure.  He then proceeded to the outboard checking the props, trim tabs, all the zinc and recording all necessary information. Bob spent approximately 5 hours working on the boat as he systematically completed his inspection, spoke to me regarding an overview of his findings, and indicating I would have his report within 48 hours.

While I was so impressed with the approach Bob employed during his survey, I was ecstatic upon receiving his report.  The final report is extremely thorough and provides a complete analysis of all aspects of the boat that were examined.  Mr. Eldridge’s attention to detail was evident as he provided data to support his findings, and it was conveyed in a well-organized manner that included photographs of the boat.  What also impressed me was how Bob encouraged me to ask questions and seek clarification once I received the report. Additionally, I consulted with him to determine what was fair and reasonable for repair requests based upon his findings.

If you are thinking about having a Marine Survey done on your vessel, and if you live in the areas within driving distance from St. Augustine, FL or Wilmington, NC I highly recommend and encourage you to reach out and speak to Mr. Bob Eldridge.  I believe you will be as equally impressed as I was.

I hired Bob to complete a survey on a Carver motor yacht that I was interested in purchasing. Bob was quick to answer my request even though he was out of the country. Turn around time was fast. The day of the survey; Bob was on time and very methodically worked his way across the boat. I was very surprised at the amount of detail his inspection covered. The report was very easy to understand and it helped me tremendously in having an overall understanding of the boats condition and value. He was very gracious after the survey and helped me understand what I had ahead of me. I would highly recommend RJE Marine Services to anyone in the market.

My wife and I hired Bob to survey our very first boat. We were living in Pa. at the time and the boat was in Florida. Through text messages and emails we were able to get a time set up for the survey in less than 2 weeks. Bob was prompt, cordial, very thorough and communicative. He answered all my questions and made many suggestions on fixes and repairs that were needed. He spoke in laymen terms that were easy to understand allowing me to make an informed decision about the kind of boat we were considering purchasing. Bob left no stone unturned, as he looked and thoroughly inspected every nook and cranny of the boat. We cannot say enough about his work ethic and expertise! When you or someone you know is in need of a marine surveyor be sure to hire Bob.
